Ten Years, One Foundation, and Eight Weeks to “I Do”
Danielle + Michael | A Love Story
August 29, 2026

Danielle and Michael’s love story began in 2016, long before they ever said “I do.”

Danielle was attending beauty school and working as a hairstylist when she met Michael through his sister, whom Danielle styled. Michael had just returned home from Navy boot camp, beginning a new chapter of his own.
Neither could have known that their introduction would eventually lead to nearly a decade of love, a son, a home built together, and a marriage that would come only after they learned what it truly meant to move as one.
The couple moved in together in 2019 and spent the unprecedented season of the COVID-19 pandemic quarantined together.
In May 2021, he proposed to her in a model home—a home that, at the time, was simply a vision of what their future could look like.
Years later, that same vision would become their reality when they built their first home together from the ground up.
From the outside, Danielle and Michael were creating the life they had envisioned.
But privately, they were still learning how to build something even more important: a relationship in which two people could truly move as one.
The couple originally planned to marry at the courthouse in 2024.
Danielle wanted something simple and intimate—she was ready to “go to the courthouse and get it over with.”
Michael envisioned something very different. He wanted a traditional wedding ceremony and felt the pressure of trying to make it happen in less than six months was too much.
They couldn’t get on the same page.
Eventually, they realized the disagreement wasn’t really about a wedding.
After years together, they were still pursuing their own versions of happiness rather than truly moving as one.
That realization became a turning point.
In the summer of 2025, Danielle and Michael made a decision that would change the trajectory of their relationship.
They put their pride and egos aside and began seeking God for guidance.
For Danielle, faith had always been a part of her life. She grew up in church.
Michael, on the other hand, had long considered himself a skeptic when it came to religion.
But during one of the toughest seasons they had ever experienced, they both found themselves searching for something greater than themselves.
They began doing the work—not just together, but individually.
They participated in couples therapy. They confronted their own shortcomings.
They worked through individual issues and learned to communicate from a place of vulnerability rather than pride.
Most importantly, they began building their relationship on a foundation of faith, trust, love and intentional commitment.
They weren’t simply preparing to have a wedding.
They were preparing to become one.
Then, in June 2026, something unexpected happened.
The couple was attending a Danielle’s client’s wedding when Michael became inspired by the celebration.
Upon leaving, he told her, “If you’re gonna get married, you only do it once, and we might as well make it an experience.”
For Danielle, who had spent years advocating for the courthouse, the answer was surprisingly easy.
“I agreed.”
And just like that, the wedding they once couldn’t agree on became a shared dream.
On July 1, Danielle began reaching out to venues.
By July 15—just two weeks later—the couple had secured their dream venue, Danielle had found her wedding dress, suits had been ordered for Michael and Steel, and they had secured their hair and makeup team, photographer and DJ.
Everything seemed to fall into place.
And according to Danielle and Michael, that was no coincidence.
“It was by the grace of God,” Danielle says.
On August 29, 2026, after years of building a life, becoming parents, buying a home, doing the difficult work of healing and learning how to move together, Danielle and Michael finally exchanged vows in front of their village. Their officiant was Danielle’s uncle, an ordained minister who had witnessed their relationship from the very beginning. Having him standing before them as they entered into marriage gave the ceremony an especially meaningful sense of continuity: someone who had seen their relationship grow, witnessed their challenges and knew the journey that brought them to that moment was the person entrusted to lead them into their next chapter.
Their wedding may have come together in less than eight weeks, but the marriage they were entering had been years in the making.
The celebration was bigger than either of them originally imagined—not because every detail had been perfectly planned, but because they had finally learned to surrender the need to control the outcome.
They had spent years becoming a family.
They spent the season before their wedding becoming a team.
And when the time finally came to say “I do,” they weren’t just celebrating a wedding.
They were celebrating answered prayers, restored alignment, a love that had grown through nearly a decade of life together, and the faith that carried them to the altar.
What began with a Navy veteran home from boot camp and a beauty school student introduced through his sister became a family, a home, a journey of growth and, ultimately, a marriage.
The model home where Michael proposed represented a future they could only imagine.
The home they eventually built together became a testament to what they could create.
And the wedding they once couldn’t agree on became a celebration of what happened when they finally learned to move together—with God at the center.
Their original plan was a courthouse.
God’s plan was exceedingly and abundantly more than they could have imagined.
